If you feel that the glide is not the same, then it's time to change it.
If your mousepad remains dirty after washing and the glide is affected, change it.
A professional with intensive use will change their mousepad every 3 to 6 months.
For moderate use, every 6 to 12 months will be largely sufficient.
It's up to you to judge based on the mousepad's glide.
